The Contestants
Erin G.
Erin is a busy wife and mother to three boys ages 2, 4, and 8. She is a part-time preschool teacher looking to change her habits. She is a former college athlete (volleyball) and is ready to get back into her idea shape. "After the birth of my third son I just could not get the weight off. I weigh the most I have ever weighed in my life!"
Assigned Trainer: Billy Tobias Bio
Erin's Fitness Tip for Week 3: "My advice would be not to give up on an exercise that is difficult for you. Eventually you will be able to do it and can look back and see your progress. Very Satisfying!" 4/26/2010
Erin's Fitness Tip for Week 5: "I think the one thing that I am learning from my trainer is to mix up what you do for exercise. It helps you not get tired of doing the same thing over and over again." 5/3/2010
Erin's - week 10: "This whole experience has taught me a lot. Having to be accountable to a trainer like Billy has helped me realize that I have to want it for myself. Because of my schedule I have had to work out on my own a little more. It felt like for a while there I could not break 20 lbs and I was beginning to get frustrated. However, I have really tried to stay active doing things with my kids like going to the pool and actually swimming and walking the track while my sons are playing baseball rather than sit in a chair. Last week my 8 year old and I had a killer 2 on 2 basketball game with our 11 and 13 year old boy neighbors. It was a close match and we almost won. I was pleased to find out that it was a really good work out and I still had some of my “skillz” from high school. That night my son said “Mom, thanks for playing basketball with me. Will you do that everyday?” It really made me feel good. I can really feel a shift in my lifestyle. As we head into the second half of the challenge I am really going to push myself. I want to gain as much as I can from this experience."

Lisa is truly a great comeback story in the making! Lisa was versatile athlete majoring in track, cross country, golf, and more... then college came. "I was quite popular... my place became the hang out and the fast food saga began." Lisa is motivated and ready to change her life and lose her excuse! Wish her luck!
Assigned Trainer: Melvin Gay's Bio
Lisa's Fitness Tip for Week 3: "Submerge yourself into your goal because if you work hard you will definitely achieve it! Encouragement from friends, family, and even yourself is great motivation to meet your goal.
Lisa's Recap - The Halfway Point! Everything is going great! The 5k has been my most challenging accomplishment thus far. Most people were finishing the race when I was coming up on lap two, so everyone was congratulating me for the great finish while I proudly said I have one more lap to go and kept on trucking lol- I'm sure I could have stopped there, but this contest has shown me that as long as I finish and as long as I try my hardest, I'm still a winner! I have a far way to go yet in this journey. I have many more pounds / inches to lose. Then I have a long road focusing on toning up. The more I lose and the harder I try, the faster and stronger I become. Soon I'll be running 5k's and keeping up with the best of them. The ZX Fitness staff has been so motivating and uplifting. They never hesitate to give me a high five while I'm working hard. Melvin switches up my workouts each time we meet to keep workouts fun! I told him I had been taking a kickboxing class so he put together a fun workout hour routine with boxing gloves. Taking workout pain out on my trainer with boxing gloves is fantastic! Ha ha! Kidding Melvin. My clothes keep getting bigger and bigger on me and when I have a day when I'm feeling like I haven't reached the goals I thought I would by now I put on a pair of baggy jeans I was wearing three months ago and smile as they fall off of me. I'm doing just fine with food cravings now. Even when I see someone super skinny indulging in pizza I picture them getting heavier and I think about all of the heath risks that come with the food choice. I've had a lot of fun making new healthy foods. It doesn't even feel good to eat unhealthy food now. I give myself one cheat day a month to have whatever I want to eat, and usually I have 5 bites and my whole body rejects it. I'm used to healthy food and water and this all just feels great! I'm very proud of me and Erin's accomplishments in the first half of this contest and I can't wait to see where we are in three more months! The biggest question people ask me these days is "How do you feel now"? My reply is, I am so happy I can jog up a flight of stairs! Seems like it's no big deal, but three months ago I would have had to stop and take a break to walk one flight of stairs and now I can easily jog up three. Thank you ZX Fitness for making the first half of this contest life changing!!!

So close to 50lbs! My favorite food has been low sodium turkey. Sounds simple, but it tastes great, is an excellent source of protein and is easy to prepare anywhere! I can have it at work, on roadtrips etc... My current favorite workout is 30-40 mins on the summit trainer paired with strength training. No other cardio equipment can compare now that I've discovered it!
