Ruth's Story
One afternoon in February 2009 my son invited me to go with him to ZX Fitness. Aha! Perfect opportunity to spend some extra time with my son! I put on my sweat pants, sweat shirt and tennis shoes and off we went. We started slow on the Stationary Bikes and then we moved on to the Elliptical Machines. I quickly realized how out of shape I had become. It took all I had to go for 10 minutes on the Elliptical! He then took me around to some of his favorite weight machines. Needless to say the only part of my body that did not hurt the next day were my eyelids.
ZX Fitness was offering a one week free trial, so I decided to give it a try. I joined in March 2009. Keith, Cassie and Alvin were always available to answer any question I had as I explored the use of new equipment. They instructed me on proper form, use of equipment and weight limits thus ensuring I would achieve the maximum benefits for my fitness goals. With the help of Keith, Cassie, Alvin and a ZX Fitness personal trainer I had developed a weekly routine. Oh and by the way, I finally made it for 30 minutes on the Elliptical!
With my first goal of endurance completed I decided to give the aerobic classes a try. My first class was Zumba with Wendy Beal as instructor. I was hooked! Zumba is now in my routine twice a week. I also take the Step and Fit-Camp classes under Wendy. Don’t get me wrong, I still use the Treadmill, Stationary Bike and Elliptical machines to mix things up but….“I Love Zumba!” There is no lack of motivation or fun in Wendy’s classes!
ZX Fitness has a large enough selection of equipment to accommodate casual gym-goers, competitive fitness enthusiast, and anyone else in between. What I like most at ZX Fitness is the atmosphere – everyone is helpful and friendly to one another, no matter what each others’ training goals are. This camaraderie makes for a supportive and non-intimidating workout experience. When I joined ZX Fitness I wore a size 12. With the support, instruction and motivation of the ZX staff (and members) by February 2010 I am now wearing a size 2 – Goal 2 accomplished! My overall body fitness and composition has changed – Goal 3 accomplished! Now on to Goal 4……
