Guts and Glory on the Gridiron to benefit charity

Guns & Hoses football game set for Dec. 3, 2011

Statesville, NC – For the third year, the Statesville Police Dept. will face off against the Statesville Fire Dept. in a football game to benefit two local charities: Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center and American Red Cross. The game will be held at Statesville High School, 474 North Center Street, Statesville, NC on Saturday, December 3rd with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m.

guns-n-hosesThis popular community event pits the red against the blue as crowds come out and cheer for their favorite forces! Last year over 700 people attended this game in the rain/sleet/snow and crowds are expected to be bigger this year! Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the gate and will be sold at the Statesville Pumpkin Festival on Nov. 5 and can also be purchased by contacting Dove House at 704-883-9814 or American Red Cross at 704-664-2500.

Concession stands will be selling hot dogs, pizza, snacks, soda, coffee and hot cocoa during the event. T-shirts are available for $10. McGruff, Sparky and Sir Purr will be on hand pre-game; local entertainment is planned for half-time and a tribute to a fallen local firefighter will be held.

"We are excited to watch our heroes battle on the football field!" Dove House executive director, Ken Wooten says “Dove House is thrilled to be a part of this fun-spirited local rivalry and we can’t wait to see some ‘guts and glory’ on the field! These folks are our community servants and they deserve our support for the job they do every day so we hope everyone will come out and have some fun with us!”
